FREE Summer Meals Report 2022

Summer 2022 ended with the Abilene/Big Country Hunger Coalition’s annual FREE Summer Meals program. With AISD starting a week earlier than usual, the program ran for 11-days instead of the usual three weeks. We are excited to announce we served a total of 12,587 meals throughout the city of Abilene. This is an increase of 16.8% from the previous year (2021) and an increase of 980.4% since the program began in 2018. We were able to do this because of our amazing group of 400+ volunteers. We would like to thank all of our volunteers for their amazing service, every organization that helped pull off this event and all our financial donors, who believe feeding hungry children is important! Specifically, we would like to thank the Community Foundation of Abilene for awarding the ABCHC with a $3,500 grant for the FREE Summer Meals Program. We are truly, “Better Together”.
